Description
This speed recorder drive features the Chicago Pneumatic Model C (aka, the one EMD used forever on everything) Speed Recorder drive. These used a flexible spring cable that ran into the speedometer in the cab, which also plotted the speed on a paper tape. This set is on the Alco/GE 8 bolt oil bath style journal cap. This pack includes two with the drive on top, and two with it on the bottom. This drive was not limited to just Alco/GE’s, as many of the EMD’s with trade in trucks had this style of drive. Cable material is also included.
This drive was a tricky print – in order to keep the cover face perfectly smooth, we had to print at an odd angle, which allows for a hair of layering on the mounting flange. This will disappear with a good coat of primer, something I did not do on the build samples below.
